So I did too much pvp while playing GW. Too much I didnt even finish Prophecies with 1249 hours of gameplay. Anyways, got nostalgia from this campaing due to playing it on trial.
As I started playing in 2007, with NF, I would like to see how the game was in 2005, and I am going to do the next:
-Start a char (probably mesmer) and get the legendary defender of Ascalon. This would take me aprox. 3 months making daily missions.
-After this, finishing LDoA, I am going to finish Prophecies with no heroes, only prophecies skills, and also only Prophecies weapons and armor.
If you want the true prophecies experience, you really shouldn't do LDoA. You wouldn't normally hit level 20 until much much further into the game and so you'll spoil the early stuff by being massively overleveled. Imo some of the most iconic/memorable moments of prophecies are the earlier, low leveled stuff (in particular, one quest from Piken Square).
If you really want to do this, also consider there was only one Xunlai Pane, no material storage, and no equipment bags.
Slightly OT, but I looked through the Game Updates archive for some interesting milestones in GW's history during 2005. You can use it to consider things you can or can not do if trying to mimic early Prophecies.
May, 2005
* You can now store gold in your account storage vault! The vault can store up to 1000 platinum pieces, and individual characters can now hold a maximum of 100 platinum pieces. June, 2005
* Changed Signet of Capture so that it now targets dead boss monsters. When you use the signet, you are presented with a menu of all of the dead boss monster's skills, and can capture any skill of your choice. This eliminates the need to keep boss monsters alive while trying to capture their skills, and will substantially reduce the difficulty of capturing certain skills that are rarely cast by boss monsters. July, 2005
* Added tags to highlight fellow guild members in outposts. August, 2005
All Spirits: The effects of Spirits no longer work on other Spirits (example: Fertile Season no longer adds Health and armor to other Spirits); also, when a Spirit is cast, it kills all other allied Spirits of the same type within its range September, 2005
* Sorrow's Furnace consists of two new, large and challenging explorable regions located deep in the Shiverpeak Mountains between Spearhead Peak and Snake Dance.
* Added Superior Salvage Kits and Superior Identification Kits, which are the same as Expert Salvage Kits and Identification Kits except with 100 charges instead of 25. October, 2005
* Added options to toggle the display of helmets and guild capes. November, 2005
*Improved AI so that henchmen and monsters can now detect and flee from area-effect damage spells.
*Improved AI so that monsters will eventually stop chasing fleeing players. December, 2005
* Fixed sacrifice skills so that a player who sacrifices all of his remaining Health will die. Previously a bug allowed the player to stay alive if he had positive Health regeneration when he sacrificed all of his remaining Health.
